Banyan Nest (Bio Mimicry)

This project explores the fusion of traditional rattan weaving techniques with dystopian design aesthetics and biomimicry principles. My design is a social seating arrangement for four, inspired by the Banyan tree—symbolizing strength, resilience, and community. Drawing from the tree's interconnected roots and branches, the seating encourages social interaction and outdoor relaxation. The design incorporates biomimicry, using natural structures to create a functional, adaptable, and sustainable seating solution. The rattan material and weaving techniques reflect both tradition and sustainability, merging craft with future-forward thinking for a communal space in a dystopian world.
